This museum is the nation's first museum to explore the war from Union, Confederate and African American perspectives. The Tredegar Iron Works was the biggest ironworks in the Confederacy during the American Civil War, and a significant factor in the decision to make Richmond the capital of Virginia. This site is now classified as a National Historic Landmark
